Wedding videography is definitely a good business to be in, I know this cause my cousin happen to be in that business. I don't know if I want to be doing it professionally as I am pretty happy with what am doing now:)

Are most wedding videographers male? The reason why I wanted to know its because I am thinking about starting a home based business, and having my own wedding business seems like a great, but this industry seem to be dominanted by mostly men, just wanted to get some valuable input from someone. thanks!

Susan, there is definitely a gender difference in any occupation, but that shouldn't stop you from pursuing your dreams, for example most men are in IT, and women in nursing, but some of my friends that are male nurses and they are sucessful at what they do. I hope that helps!

Thanks, John for the advice that helps!

With the uncertaintly of the economy, starting my own business or even working for someone is good enough for me. I have 2 years of experience shooting professional videos, I'm most interested in getting connection with people who are looking to hire a wedding videographer, if anyone is looking and happen to be in the New York area, please get back to me. Thanks!

My sister is getting married soon, and she is looking for a wedding photographer and a videographer, she is looking to get some information about the cost for both of these services, and if the rates are negotiable or cheaper if she want both included in her wedding plans?

Different wedding videographer/photographer charge different rates, the higher quality with more experience will charge more than the less experienced, but you are looking to spend an average of $270-300 an hour for videography alone, I know this cause that is how much I have spend on my wedding.

Interesting, how much wedding videographer can charge their clients. I sure hope I can find the cheapest but can provide high quality wedding videography services when it comes to my wedding.

Hey, This is my first visit to the site, I'm seriously thinking about starting my wedding videography business, but do not know how much work is involved. I found a great site thought I will share it with everyone who are interested in finding a videographer for their wedding http://videographers.net enjoy!

To start a videography business you will need to have contacts, love making videos, know how to turn a hobby into a business idea, enjoy dealing with people, know the pitfalls of running a small business, and most importantly you do not expect to be making a truck load of money the first year! Or if you want to do something simplier you can sell your wedding videos for a profit. I believe there are websites who would love to buy your professional video, and use it as samples for their business.

I been a videographer for about a year now, and besides being myself in a situation is not quite enough, I must also try to understand my surrounding environment. I have the skills and talent to become a mediocre wedding videographer, and I master the basic skills of basic framing, medium, and long shots. I also have a good understanding of what close ups are. Being an average cameraman is not enough, to make it in this business you also need to have the ability to hold still shots, and do simple panning movements which are the key to success in this business. Make every shot count!

A few years back I was looking for a way to capture my memories on video forever. and ta da...came wedding videography, and hired my first wedding videographer. After learning this new wave that is taking over the wedding industry, I have found my new passion to life when I look back at the video after two years I realize this is the coolest thing ever, well besides marrying my husband!

My son have overspend on his wedding, and to make matters worst he chose a videographer that does not have any backup equipments, and have a bad attitude. A night to remember turned out to be a disaster! Sorry, for the rant!
