The things you need to do to make a better wedding video!
The big day has finally come, you thought about, dreamt about it, prepared for it,
when it is all over, you sit in the comfort of your home and relive it again on video...
Shooting a wedding can be an absolute blast, you may learn a thing or two on the
very first day, people who have done this for awhile know what it takes to be a better
shooter of wedding videos, the more you love what you do the better the quality will
turn out to be.
Here a couple of things that I think will make a video look good.
This is coming from a wedding videographer point of view, enjoy!
How to make your wedding video look good
I can not address this enough, but most of my clients tend to be camera shy,
the most important thing to do when a camera is pointing at you is to act natural.
Wedding videographers sometimes like to sneak up on their clients and make a surprise
shot whenever possible, and if the clients are not comfortable on film, or may say
something inappropriate it will have a major impact on how the video will turn out to be.
The bride and groom are usually the ones who will get the shots the most, but they tend
to be very stiff or try to hide their faces when a camera is coming near them, that will not only
make the video look silly, but defeats the purpose of having your wedding on video in the first
place, so please, please act natural!
Communicating is the key ingredient to any wedding videography, if there is something
special that you absolutely must include in your video, be sure to let your wedding videographer
know ahead of time, so he will have time to prepare for it.
The last thing a videgrapher wants to hear is, after the ceremony you mention to him
that he should have done this, and he left this and that out. That is all good stuff, but its a bit too
late then. Talking to your videographer ahead of time will make his job a lot easier.
Talk to the person in charge of the ceremony so you know when events will happen.
The person in charge for the night can be the coordinator, the DJ, or the caterer, so when
the videographer is outside doing a nice interview with the bridesmaid he doesn't have to
rush back in to shoot a bouquet toss or a cake cutting event. Tonight, is the night you get
to be the boss so communicate with the person in charge, and relay that information back
to the videgrapher so the videographer will know exactly when an event will unfold and
and he does not need to run around all night, trying to figure out where he is suppose
to be at that time.
Stand in front of a full-size mirror and point to your toe. I know this sounds
really outragious, but it will help your photo image look slightly better. When you point
your toe it causes some amazing things to happen, so try it out, extend one of your leg
slightly forward and point to your toe, you just look better, and don't forget to have
fun at the same time.
Finally, talk to each other, you never know what you may say when you are in front
of a camera. Toward the end of the ceremony I will advise the bride and groom to kindly step
outside and record a special message to each other, a few years later when you look back,
you maybe surprised at what you had said to your spouse, what are you thinking at that time?
Will you say it differently if there is no camera shooting at you, or will you say the same?
